- He loves to close doors, and he's figured out how to open them too. Doors, cupboards, drawers, anything with knobs!
- Speaking of doors, he loves to go outside, and since Daddy takes him out the front door sometimes, most days if not all he plays over by the front door and slaps it because he knows it can open and that outside is on the other side. Today I saw him putting his fingers in the crack to try to open it. He's so smart!
- Also on that note, he likes to slap the windows too. He plays a lot by the back door which is a sliding glass door (and slaps it) and constantly rolls over on his changing table to slap the window that is right by it. Sometimes Daddy takes him to the window that faces the street to watch cars go by and he slaps it too. He likes to go outside and wants to be out there!
- He loves to go over to the piano and reach up and press down on a few of the notes he can reach with one or each hand. It especially attracts his attention when I'm playing. It's so cute and so fun! I love seeing him reach up and play and hear the "dink dink dink" of his piano playing.
- He's learning the art of fake crying! We're trying to teach him that he doesn't need to cry when he wants something...
- Randomly this month he started giggling like crazy when we would put him in his crib at night along with our wrapping in a blanket and goodnight song rituals. He immediately starts to roll over so he can reach to the side of the crib to stand up! It also makes him laugh when we pin him down on his back. He thinks it's funny! What a silly kid! We loved when he would smile when we started singing our goodnight song, but now he just tries to get up like it's a game!
- Literally the first thing he does when we put him down for bed or for a nap is get up. He instantly rolls over, grabs the side of the crib and stands up.
- He LOVES the bath! Still! He is the most talkative when the bath is turned on. He gets so excited! He squeals and babbles and wants to run/crawl/whatever quickly over to the tub and play in it.
- We've been going to a swim class still. He's doing awesome and loves it. He goes under water like a champ!
- He's also a champ at eating solids! He eats a variety of foods, even some to chew. He's doing great! He even had (a lot of) Thanksgiving dinner! That was fun.
- And he's gotten pretty good at picking things up and put them in his mouth to eat. He still drops some on occasion, but he's improved a lot! We started him with puff snacks, but he's even eating little squares of cheese now!
- He finally caught on to blowing bubbles in swim class (and does it! Sometimes I can see actual bubbles).
- I think because of that he's discovered new noises he can make with his mouth, namely a motorboat sound (or farting sound). He does that one a lot. He did it for like a week straight.
- He also makes a blowing noise by blowing his bottom lip out.... It's cute.
- And he makes a sort of popping noise with his lips. That one he does a lot recently. It's sort of his "go-to" noise.
- His also "go-to" noise is a clicking sound, with his tongue on the top of the inside of his mouth. Kind of like a "tisk-tisk" noise?
- He says "momomom" a lot lately!! He started doing it again and does it frequently. We think he actually means "Mom" when he says it... It just seems like he says it when he wants my attention. Some of the time at least!
- He really likes playing peek-a-boo. It makes him giggle a ton! It's super cute that he plays with us... A couple times he has walked out from behind something and I'll react and he'll go back behind it (the couch, door frame, wall) and then peek back around with a smile when I react again... So fun!
- We have a couple normal sized plastic pumpkins and Eli loves to play with them. He crawls over to one and pushes it across the floor and crawls after it and does it again.
- He loves to be thrown in the air by Daddy! Well, by Mommy too but Mommy doesn't do it very often because I'm not very strong and he's getting heavy! Eli will smile and giggle and laugh in the air when Daddy throws him up! It's so so so cute!
- The other day I sneezed next to Eli and he laughed so hard! So I proceeded to do a series of fake sneezes, all of which he thought was hysterical and laughed so hard at! So funny!
- He likes to play the chase game. It's cute how he'll be walking along the coffee table and sometimes when we're behind him he'll look back at us to see if we're there or coming and I'll say "I'm gonna get you!" and he'll squeal and run away, and look back, and squeal while he runs down the table, etc.
- He has been walking along ALL of our walls. He can pretty much walk all the way around our living room (and down the hall if we let him!).
- Tables don't stop him because he has learned how to duck.
- We bought a walker/activity toy thing, which he did NOT want to walk with the first time we showed it to him (he lifted his legs up like a sitting position while Adam held him in place... so funny!). But a week or two later he was going to it on his own and walking with it by himself! It was so cute!! He would smile and giggle because he was so proud of himself and he was so happy. And he did it all himself, I only helped him steer.
- We also had been working with him this month on walking while holding only one hand of ours. He started doing really well!
- And we even finally got him to stand unassisted!
- But the BIG NEWS is that HE STARTED WALKING!!! He took his first steady step last week and since then he has gotten the hang of it and has been walking around everywhere! He's still learning and nervous sometimes, but he's doing so awesome and is pretty brave!
- He has CUTE little cheeks and I just want to kiss them all day!
- I love love love hearing the pitter patter of his feet when he walks on hard surfaces!!!!
- He still fits into 6 month clothes. But we have some 12 month that he also wears.
- He's getting the hang of brushing teeth! When I take him to brush his teeth he opens his mouth for me and even doesn't bite down on the toothbrush long enough for me to do a quick soft scrape of all his gums and tongue.
- When he wakes up from a nap we find him standing in his crib (sometimes crying, so sad!) and when I walk over to him he wraps his arms around me! He gives us hugs a lot, it's so sweet!
- He's still sleeping through the night. It's great. And he's having two naps a day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. They seem to be getting shorter maybe... But he definitely needs those two naps still.
- His new trick is pointing! He points at Mommy and at Daddy and at lights... Sometimes he'll point and then wave. It's so cute!
- He also makes this really cute cheesy face. He lifts his chin and squints his eyes and shows his teeth. We love it!
- Another new trick is getting down from the couch! He somehow knows how to go backwards, feet first and on his tummy, to get down. It's awesome. He's awesome!

11 Months! (Baby Eli)
Eli is 11 months old already! I say this every month but I just can't believe how the time flies. But at the same time it's going by at a perfect rate. I love our silly little boy! Some things he's up to:

50 Shades of Red (Dance Show)
For the past few months I've been rehearsing as a dancer for a local show, and the last two nights were our performances! I haven't done something theatrical like this since college (other than ballet stuff), so I've had lots of fun! Usually when I've done something like this in the past I was always a part of the ensemble as a singer/actor or something. But this time I was primarily a dancer. It was different! And really fun! I've met some fun people and have gotten to know others better. I definitely enjoyed the experience, and the fun adventure! :)

Eli's First Cart Ride
Adam started school this week and I needed to get some things from the store. So Eli had his first ride in the kid seat in a cart! He had so much fun looking around at everything. He did so well! And he was sooo cute! Everyone loved him!
I couldn't help walking down the aisles with my camera out. I took so many pictures! It was tough getting some good ones, and most of them are blurry. He's such a cute little curious wiggler!

5 Months! (Baby Eli)
Eli turned 5 months (old two weeks ago)! It's so crazy, I can't believe how time flies.- He's reaching out for and grabbing at things
- He loves balls, they seem to be his toy of choice
- Pretty much anything he gets in his hands goes into his mouth (or at least he tries!)
- Still playing with his feet and sucking on that big toe!
- He chews on his thumb (to relieve teething soreness is my guess) and sometimes all of his fingers at once (sometimes both hands at once)
- Almost instantly he rolls over to his back when he's on his tummy, most of the time -- He has rolled over to the right a couple times, but almost every time he goes to the left
- When he rolls to the left he leads with his head; when he rolls to the right he leads with his bum
- The past couple days he has been rolling onto his side by himself and on June 7 he rolled from his back to his tummy all the way, all by himself, with no prompting from us at all! (So proud!)
- He watches tv. (He'll turn his head to the side to look at it when I'm burping him on my lap.)
- He smiles at us when we smile at him, and even from across the room
- He's pretty smiley in general
- He laughs and giggles when we tickle him, and he likes flying in the air too
- He's been eating rice cereal, and grabbing for the spoon and opening his mouth for the next bite! He seems to like it.
- He's gotten really good at tummy time!
- And he's gotten really good at head control too. Still a bit wobbly, but he's doing so good!
- Lately he lifts his bum right when we're putting a new diaper on him. Silly boy!
- Sometimes he doesn't like sitting like normal. He'll straighten his legs and throw his head back a lot!
- And he scoots. He doesn't stay sitting for long if he can help it!
- On May 16 he went "under water" in his swim class for the first time. He did great!
- And went all the way under water this week in class! Like 5 times! He's such a pro!
- He splashes a lot in the bathtub with his feet
- He still kicks his feet out by lifting them up and then straightening them and kicking them down. It's cute and silly!
- He helps Dad play his Xbox games by putting his little hands on Daddy's hands holding the remote, and sometimes he goes for the joystick himself
- He tries to stand sometimes and can almost hold his own weight for a second or two
- He went to his first DBacks game!!
- He's very patient
- He's still making cute sounds, yawning and cooing and humming and squealing
- His favorite toy is a little bug stroller toy that jingles. He always reaches for that one when we give him an option.
- He reaches for and puts his hands on our faces when we hold him or if he's close enough to touch them. He also likes to put his hand in our mouths and hold on. He's also started touching other people's faces when they hold him.
- He likes to be upside down
- We've called him a variety of silly things: little bug, coconut, birdie, buddy, rolly-poly, baby dinasoaur
- He likes to suck on our camelbak water bottles
- He lounges and sleeps with his legs out (and knees bent)
- When he's on his tummy he looks like a seal or something because he lifts his legs up in the air and sometimes his whole bottom half, especially if he's trying to get his arm(s) out from under him
- Ticklish on his feet!
- Loves swim class! He kicks his little feet and likes to play with the toys now.
- He likes it when we sing, and he likes to try to sing along
- Instead of falling asleep instantly in the car he talks to himself for at least about 10 or 15 minutes. It's so cute!
- Adam will put out his hand to Eli and say "high five!" and Eli will reach his hand out to his hand :)
It's hard to recognize all the silly, quirky things he does sometimes, just because we don't know anything else! I hope we can remember most of them at least. Here's to trying. :)

The Last Month
I guess it's time for me to play some famous blog catch-up.
Two days before Christmas I got to talk to my brother who is serving a mission in the Philippines for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was great to talk to him! He sounds like he has an accent. :) Missionaries only get to call home on Mother's Day and Christmas. He comes home in March -- So crazy! It will be good to see him! He has grown up a lot from what I can tell by his letters he writes each week. It's nice to have someone else in my family who is as dedicated to the Gospel of Jesus Christ as I am. I think we're going to end up getting close! :)
We also got to talk with Adam's brother who is serving a mission in Portland, Oregon. He comes home in July! This is a crazy year for missionaries coming home. It's going to be fun!
Speaking of this year... 2012 has some great things happening! I got a new calling in church which I am totally excited about (but I can't say what just yet because I need to be sustained on Sunday first!). We're thinking more about buying a house, which we may or may not do, but we would love to! I'm being more involved with dancing -- My mom and I are taking a tap dance class this semester which I'm super excited about! I'm also taking a ballet class this semester with the same teacher I've been taking other dance classes with, who I love!, and hope to keep working en pointe! I'm also progressing at work in the mortgage biz. I'm learning more and more every day and it's awesome, and fun! And I'm sure there are tons of other things this year has in store, some things of which are probably not yet known! But I'm way excited, and happy about life!
I took a ballet class at a studio this past semester and danced in a recital production of the Nutcracker! En pointe! It was challenging but super awesome and fun!!! I miss it. It's so crazy, I never would have thought I would be dancing en pointe for a performance. I'm hoping to continue working on it and getting better! I love dancing! I can't believe it has taken me this long to figure out how much I like it. Oh well, better late than never. I figure I have more time for it now anyway and am more able to appreciate it. :)
Adam and I took a trip to California when school got out for him in December. It was our Christmas present to each other. We got to see my aunt and uncle, and went to the Ghirardelli factory outlet. Yum! And we went to the Steelers game! It was our first NFL game (for both of us). Sadly though, the Steelers lost. :( But we had fun anyway! We went to the LDS Oakland Temple (beautiful of course!) and also to the Golden Gate Bridge. Surprisingly there was not even a hint of fog at the bridge!
Christmas was wonderful! Adam and I opened stockings in the morning (since our present to each other was the Cali trip, including the Steelers game). We went to church with Adam's family and my parents joined us too. We had a nice Sacrament Meeting and then got to talk with Adam's brother, which I mentioned, and then opened a ton of presents with Adam's family. Coming from a family that struggles to find one thing to get for each other (which we don't even bother with anymore) it's strange having 10 presents for each person to open, and we're all adults! But it's super fun and I am not complaining at all! Then we had dinner with my parents and my dad's parents who live in town and some of my dad's sisters who were there too. It was a busy and nice Christmas, spending time with family and cherishing those relationships because those are the ones that last forever if we choose to live righteously and fulfill the ordinances required. What a great way to remember Christ and all He has made possible for us. :)
We went to Alabama with Adam's family to visit his dad's family. It was a new experience for me! I got to meet mostly everyone. We spent time with Adam's grandmother, which was really good. We even did some video recording of interviews with Adam's grandmother and her sisters and also Adam's dad's dad. And we went to a bunch of grave sites where a lot of the family is buried. We also went to the Blue Bell factory! It was awesome and so yummy! Unfortunately the tours were closed, probably for the holiday. :( But there was a window to see into the factory and we saw them putting together chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream! We also went to the Talladega Super Speedway racetrack and took a tour on the track! And got to take pictures in Victory Lane! It was cool! And we went to the Chick-fil-A bowl in Atlanta. And celebrated 2012 twice! (Once in Georgia and once in Alabama!) You don't get to do that many times in a lifetime!
I'm learning how to use Photoshop! We bought a Photoshop Elements and Premier (video editing) package on Black Friday for half off (yesss!). It's been fun trying to learn how to use them. I even created our own Christmas cards from scratch!! I'm so proud of it! But we didn't get to send them out at Christmas since it was so busy with our trips and everything. I still want to send them out though because I can't let it go to waste! And no, of course I don't want to wait a whole year to divulge my awesomeness with Photoshop! I think I will still send them :D
And of course, we squeezed in time for some shooting practice before school started back up again for Adam. I did really well! Better than him this time! Hehe.
2012 has been good for us so far! It's going to be a great year! It always is. :)
